Maple Pecan Squares


1/2 cup butter, melted 1 cup flour
1/4 cup brown sugar    

Mix above with fingertips and press into an 8" x 8" pan. Bake 350 degrees, 5 minutes.


2/3 cup brown sugar 1/4 cup butter
1 cup maple syrup   2/3 cup pecans
2 eggs   1/2 teaspoon vanilla
1/4 teaspoon salt   2 tablespoons flour

Mix brown sugar and maple syrup. Simmer for 5 minutes. Cool to lukewarm. Add beaten eggs, stirring constantly. Add other ingredients. Spread over base. Bake 400 degrees F, 5 minutes. Then reduce to 350 degrees F for 20 minutes or until firm. Serve with ice cream or whipped cream.

Maple Syrup Drop Cookies

1 cup pure maple syrup   2 cups flour
1 egg   1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup shortening   1 small teaspoon soda
1 small teaspoon baking powder      

Mix ingredients, add nutmeats and/or chocolate chips. Bake for 12 minutes at 400-degree F oven.

Oatmeal-Maple Syrup Drop Cookies

1/2 cup shortening 2 teaspoons baking powder
1 cup maple syrup   1/4 cup milk
1 egg   1/2 cup seedless raisins
1 1/2 cups flour   1 1/2 cup oatmeal
1 teaspoon salt 1/2 cup chopped nuts

Beat shortening, maple syrup and egg. Sift together flour, salt and baking powder. Add to syrup mixture alternately with milk. Mix well. Add oatmeal, raisins and nuts. Drop by spoonfuls on greased cookie sheet. Bake 350-375 degrees F about 15 minutes.

Maple Bars

1/2 cup sugar   1/2 cup soft shortening
1 egg   1/2 cup pure maple syrup
2/3 cup flour 1 cup chopped nuts
1 cup rolled oats   1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon vanilla 1/2 cup coconut

Mix all of the ingredients thoroughly. Spread in 8 x 8 square greased pan. Bake 350 degrees F for 30-35 minutes. While warm, cut in squares.

Oatmeal Coconut Cookies

1 cup shortening 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
3/4 cup maple syrup     Salt to taste
1 egg   1 1/4 cup oatmeal
1 1/2 cups flour   1 cup coconut
1 teaspoon baking powder    

Mix ingredients in order given. Drop by spoonfuls on a greased baking sheet. Bake 400 degrees F, for 10 to 12 minutes.

Maple Coconut Squares

1 cup maple syrup   grated coconut
1 tablespoon butter      

In saucepan, place maple syrup and butter. When boiling, add coconut, cook slowly, stirring until done. When hot candy will harden when dropped into cold water; pour onto well-buttered pan.
When hardened enough, cut into squares. Wrap individually in waxed paper.
