MICHIGAN MAPLE SYRUP ASSOCIATION
MEMBERSHIP MEETING
September 27, 2003

The general membership meeting was held at the Bark River-Harris School following lunch. Jean welcomed everyone to the fall tour. The band boosters were thanked and given a round of applause for the luncheon and their entertainment during lunch. Terry DeLoughary introduced our guests, Mr. and Mrs. Mike Martineau from Inverness, Canada. Terry and Craig Arnold were thanked for organizing the fall tour.

The Board members and officers were introduced to the membership. The secretary’s report was approved. Steve Youdes distributed the Treasurer’s Report and requested comments. The report was approved. Tom Cook reported our web-site directory was well received by members. Over $600 had been received from members who participated.

The Board is looking for nominations for the Honorary Member to be recognized in January. Nominations can be sent to Ron Kistler. Also, three Board members’ terms will be expiring. Although they are eligible to be nominated, we are looking for additional nominations. Fred Bates is accepting nominations.

Jean explained that she is the delegate to the NAMSC meeting in October. Mary Douglass represents us at IMSI. Deb Thomas reviewed the train trip for anyone still interested in going to Nova Scotia. The price had increased due to the exchange rate reduction. Mary Douglass indicated that IMSI is still watching the adulterated syrup and grading standards.

Jean reminded everyone about the winter meeting which will be held on January 17, 2004 at the Doherty Hotel. Terry DeLoughary gave additional instructions to proceed with the fall tour.

Respectfully submitted,
Tim Boonstra, Secretary
