MMSA General Membership Meeting The meeting was called to order by President Tom Cook at 12:45 pm. An introduction of the tour stop hosts which included Sam Schmucker, Neal Sweet and Tim Boonstra was given. Current Board Members were also recognized. The International Fall meeting was publicized by Debbi Thomas inviting any interested parties to come along with our group to visit Quebec. The Secretary’s Report was approved as printed in the newsletter. The Treasurer’s Report was reviewed and approved by the membership. Things are progressing with the Committee of Ron Thomas and Mary Douglas, who are looking into the subject of how tax assessors classify Maple Farms. Representative Joel Sheltrown of Thomas’s 103rd District is aware of our situation and will work with the association in recognizing Maple Sugaring as an agricultural operation. Our annual Winter meeting will be held on Saturday, January 21, 2006 at the Doherty Hotel in Clare. Randy Heiligmann will be our primary speaker for the educational session. He is from Ohio State University and has been influential in the Maple industry in the area of education. With no further business to discuss, the meeting was adjourned. Respectfully Submitted, |
