MMSA Board of Directors Meeting

Doherty Hotel, Clare, MI

The Board of Directors Meeting began at 7:00 PM at the Doherty Hotel in Clare.

It was decided to extend the membership of Eileen Bor for another year as there was a discrepancy with her address this past year. Once again, reminder notices will be sent to our producers who have as yet not renewed their memberships.

The Ionia Free Fair, which runs from July 20th thru the 29th, would like to have the MMSA represented there this year, at no charge. Our members can man a booth, selling their products and promoting Michigan Maple. At the Annual meeting tomorrow, members will be asked to participate by signing up for this opportunity.

The Association Newsletter responsibilities have been transferred back to Cathi Bates. Betsy Carls will continue to handle the proof reading and printing.

Discussion was held concerning the additional expense associated with the purchase of additional syrup for the taste testing seminar with Randy Heiligmann tomorrow. A motion was made by Ron Thomas and seconded by Dale Forrester to accept and pay this bill. Motion was passed unanimously.

Since R&J Screen Printing is no longer supplying us with our logo sale items, their inventory has been purchased for re-sale. The following is what we have on hand:

In an effort to raise funds for the upcoming National Meeting, we will be expanding our sale items line. A motion was made by Joyce Ross and seconded by Ron Thomas to purchase 144 insulated drinking mugs with MMSA Logo screen-printing. Hats are also being considered but no action was taken at this time.

 A bill was received from Russel Kidd of MSUE for expenses associated with printing and mailing of the annual meeting notice. A motion was made by Joyce Ross and seconded by Dale Forrester to approve a $200 payment for this purpose. Motion passed.

The program agenda for tomorrow's meeting was reviewed and approved.

Registration packets for the meeting were prepared following adjournment of this meeting at 8:40 PM.
