MMSA’s Ionia Free Fair Booth

The Michigan Maple Syrup Association was invited to the Ionia Free Fair to join in the promotion of Michigan Products. Several sugar bushes joined in the effort and enjoyed the time spent.

As people came by the booth, I asked a couple of different questions. From the adults I wanted to know if they had ever made syrup before. I didn’t ask everyone but, of those asked, about 75% answered that they had made or helped make syrup at some point in their life. I asked the children to sample the syrup and then let me know if they thought I added sugar to the syrup. The response was about 50-50 on adding sugar or not. Those kids are pretty smart.

It was great to get to visit with so many people and hear their stories about when they made, or tried to make, syrup. If the chance is offered next year, you should sign up for a day or two.
